Community Resources Series Part 2

Everyone is not built for college and I understand that. With that being said, I wanted to share a resource that was greatly undervalued when I was a teenager or young adult. I am referring to the Job Corp. This is a government funded program that is designed to teach young adults how to make it in society as a contributing member. Individuals are taught job skills in a specific industry along with life skills to succeed in the real world. There are requirements to be eligible and usually they tend to focus on families who achieve lower income levels. The program is for individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age.

Job Corp provides a residence, three meals daily, an allowance, and job training in ten different industries. The goal for program participants are to graduate from the program into the workforce, attend higher learning institutions, or join the military. Job Corps will provide an apprenticeship program for up to 3 threes with the goal of the graduate transitioning into the workforce and prepared to thrive. This is a great opportunity for someone who either did not finish high school or did finish and are struggling to find work or a job with livable wages.

Attached you will find brochures of Job Corp. There is one for the parents who may be looking for options for their child and a brochure for the student. I hope this helps anyone who is looking for a change and looking to find a way to a better career. Please share this information with anyone who you feel would benefit. If you have any topics that you would like to obtain information please contact me ,Anthony Ray, at deficitdysfunction@gmail.com. I would love to answer any questions or assist in providing additional resources on other topics.
